The Upfiring Seeding Competition

On Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 at 6 PM EST, the first UFR seeding competition will begin, with UFR rewards for participants. It will run until January 5th, 2021 at 6 PM.

The first Upfiring stress test provided valuable insights regarding the dapp’s performance with a high number of users and seeders. We had 7files with over 100+ seeders, and several other small bonus files available in our Telegram. This Upfiring Seeding Competition will serve as Stress Test 2. It will feature the reverse of Stress Test #1 — many files (all hosted by participants) with fewer seeders. Here’s the guidelines for the competition:

Length of Competition

48 days. It will run from Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 at 6 PM EST to Tuesday, January 5th, 2021 at 6 PM.

How To Participate

1. Download the Upfiring dapp and create 2 files in it (Under Upload, the first tab).

• The first should have SC1 in the name, and other than that can be anything you want. For instant, SC1 MyFile. The price of this file must be 1000 UFR.
• The second should have SC2 included in the file name. The price of this file must be 500 UFR.
• The files themselves can be any content you wish, as long as it is over 1 MB in data. This is to ensure that data is retrieved from most or all of the seeders during the download/decryption process. Examples of content can be an mp3 (longer than 1 minute), a video, a .zip folder with pictures, etc.

2. List your two .ufr files on files.upfiring.com. After listing your files, you will be able to share the link to your files with others.

3. Share your files with as many other people as possible. The more seeders your files accumulate, the higher chance of you placing in the top of the competition/having your files decrypted. People who seed your files will also have an opportunity to earn UFR rewards if your file gets decrypted, so it will benefit them as well.

Rewards Day

On, Tuesday, January 5th, 2021 at 6 PM:

• The top 15 SC1 (1000 UFR) files with the highest number of seeders will be unlocked by the team
• The top 25 SC2 (500 UFR) files with the highest number of seeders will be unlocked by the team.
• In addition, several random participating files from files.upfiring.com will be unlocked each week for the duration of the competition, so even if you don’t win, you can still earn UFR by seeding your files for the duration of the seeding competition! We will post about which files were unlocked each week in the Telegram or on Twitter.

How Rewards are Calculated

When a file is unlocked, the original seeder (you) will receive 50% of the rewards — so in 500 UFR for SC1 files and 250 UFR for SC2 files — and the other seeders will split the other 50% of the rewards. This incentivizes others to help you accumulate more seeders, as they can get a cut of the files as well!

In the event that the decryption key for the file is unavailable or Ethereum gas fees spike beyond 200 gwei, the unlock date may be moved forward. If network activity remains excessively high for a long period of time, file owners will receive the UFR directly to their dapp UFR addresses.
